“Reflecting on the Song: Mary Did You Know” by Tammy Maseberg, December 2009

Mark Lowry, the Christian comedian, wrote the lyrics to the song, “Mary Did You Know?” in the 1980s. This song really touches my heart, especially at Christmas time when we spend more time pondering the birth of Jesus, our Savior.

“A New Start” by Tammy Maseberg, Jan. 2, 2010

Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.” John 8:10-11, NAS

This morning, I was reading in the Gospel of John about the woman who was caught in adultry. The people wanted to stone her, the punishment set for such a crime in the Law of Moses. Jesus said that whoever was without sin should cast the first stone. They all walked away because, of course, no one is without sin. While the people wanted to condemn the woman, Jesus forgave her.

“A Baby as a King” by Tammy Maseberg, Nov. 29, 2009

Today in Sunday service, my pastor preached about Jesus’ birth and how the people of Israel were anticipating the coming of the Messiah. However, they were looking for a conquering king, not a vulnerable and helpless baby who was and is a heavenly King. In looking for some powerful, earthly king, many of them missed the real Messiah.

“How God Loves Us” by Tammy Maseberg, Oct. 14, 2009

There is a song out right now by David Crowder called, “How He Loves.” I love this song and how it talks about how much God loves us. One of my most favorite parts goes like this, “And I realize just how beautiful You are, and how great Your affections are for me. And, oh how He loves us so…..”

“Feeling Overwhelmed” by Tammy Maseberg, Sept. 19, 2009

Do you ever feel completely overwhelmed? By life and all that it brings? I think everyone does at one time or another.

I started working full time last May, after being home with my boys for many years. I am completely grateful that I was able to work at home while my kids were growing up. Now I am experiencing a new kind of gratitude to God. That is, that He has given me this job.
