Iris Smith, a ministry associate of Joni and Friends, along with her husband, Cy, started In His Steps Ministries in 2004. Together with several friends, Iris and Cy serve people with disabilities and individuals from all walks of life to encourage and uplift anyone who is hurting. This ministry publishes a quarterly newsletter, which contains comforting messages and guidance from the Word of God, testimonies, and Bible trivia and verses. Individuals are encouraged to call on the Name of the Jesus and learn the Word to find victory in any and every situation they face in life. As the Lord leads, Cy and Iris also come alongside individuals to uplift them in their struggles, whatever the difficulties may be.
