This time of year I find myself feeling somewhat conflicted. I’ve been so incredibly blessed, and for this my heart is full of praise to the Savior. I remember times in my life when utter devestation in the face of loss seemed to threaten my sannity and steal my peace, but Jesus remained faithful to His own and pulled me through. I reflect on the Savior’s love for me, especially at this time of year, knowing firsthand that the Holiday Season is very painful for those who are suffering. I want them to find the comfort I have known in the Savior, and the peace that knowing Jesus Christ as Lord will bring to their hearts if they just reach out to Him. So,I pray for them. I may never meet them, but Jesus knows their stories, their hearts, and their needs.
If you are suffering at this moment and Christmas has been to you a painful reminder of deep loss or rejection, perhaps knowing that I have prayed for you will be the Savior’s way of whispering a breath of hope into that place of saddness where you reside. He is no longer the babe in the manger, although His coming brought great rejoicing to all who would receive Him. He is the one who fulfilled the prophecies and became the sacrafice for the sins of the world (yours and mine included). “…and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.” 1Peter:2:24. He is the one who rose again and lives to fulfill the promise of eternal life for anyone who will place their trust in Him. “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come.” 2Cor. 5:17. He suffered the loss of everything just to gain you! And having been a “man of sorrows” and “acquainted with grief”,(Isaiah 53:3), he understands EXACTLY what you feel right now. The circumstances of your situation may not change, but you will see things in a new light and begin the journey of healing without being alone – ever again.
Why believe me? Believe what God the Father Himself has spoken in His Word. “FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTON SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” John 3:16
Well, I began this entry to tell of the miracles God has brought about in my own life over the past year, but He has directed me to write to a suffering heart instead. I know deep down that this entry is speaking to at least one person in particular, even though I may never know who you are. And if you, after reading this, decide to place your hand in Christ Jesus’ hand in order to begin a new life with Him, that will be a miracle for us both to write about!
In Him,
Cathy
